This group exhibition presents selected artists from a number of students and graduates of the Studio of Performance headed by Jiří Kovanda at the Faculty of Arts and Design, University of Jan Evangelista Purkyně in Ústí nad Labem. The complex terrain of the gallery landscape will introduce the works of Barbora Čápová, Kristýna Pozlerová, Markéta Souhradová, Adéla Waldhauserová & Jiří Pitrmuc, Maxmilián Berdych and Robin Seidl.

Image appetizers from found washcloths and towels were quickly adjusted through the exhibition space to make a link between all the other exhibits. Through his process and instant work Robin Seidl makes a reference to the sarcastic moments of the entire installation with an absolutely serious face. The scrum of plastic hubcaps by Maxmilián Berdych referring to the reality of everydayness silently speaks to the white geometric construction depicting residues of dreams and the boundary between heaven and earth by Markéta Souhradová. The object of the artistic tandem Adéla Waldhauserová & Jiří Pitrmuc dominates the whole project. It is Golem and his shem as a current reference to the all-society phenomenon concerning not only Euro-American culture where people more and more often bestow their lives (and faces)  to silicon machines, binary structures and visual pleasures. Barbora Čápová composes objects, artefacts and materials filled to the top with personal history through the generally known phenomenon of buffet tables – the place where all human interaction originating from collective dining condenses into one point of a white wall. The last but not least exhibit consisting of print and a mirror tests the attention and curiosity of the viewer. It is Kristýna Pozlerová’s work, which reveals segments of a non-existent face from various angles. The mirror peaks into history, while it tirelessly spews out reflections of the present.

The artworks make up a homogenous unit, which with lightness and elegance opens up, reminds, elaborates and, last but not least, shifts contemplations over the challenges of the social direction of the current generation. It draws attention to the dismal state of today’s life and regularity of days. For example, the lunch in isolation and stress that we spice up by sharing several social contributions of our bubble and together with our excited repeated gentle hit on our phone’s display in the area where the rounded arrow is lit up. Through the dream to return to nature and the citation of the accumulation of not only plastic things but also textiles and other stuff that we throw out from an old shed on the dump only to buy it again a few years later in a hobby market, she arouses the desire for greater curiosity leading to a better view of reality.

Please enjoy it, it was made for you.
