Silvina Arismendi
A Foot, a Stone and a Fortnight

24. 7. – 23. 8. 2026
opening: 23. 7. 2026 at 6 PM

curator: Gabriela Kotiková

A foot, a stone and a fortnight. Site reactive installation. Situations of color. References to the pictorial through drawing and the countless variable materials that Arismendi collects, organizes, arranges, and then activates within the exhibition space.

Silvina Arismendi sees herself as a painter who does not use a brush in her work.  She creates her colours from everyday objects that she finds anywhere and combines in various ways. She often uses the cheapest materials, such as paper, rubber bands, dish sponges and the like, from which she assembles objects in which the combination of colours plays a key role.

She has collaborated with the Jelení Gallery in the past. In 2003, she held a solo exhibition there and later also took part in a joint exhibition with Eva Koťátková. Her currentexhibition at the Jelení Gallery is part of the annual showcase of selected mid-career artists, who, in our view, serve as an inspiration to the younger generation of artists.

Silvina Arismendi was born in Uruguay. In 2000, she moved to the Czech Republic, where she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in the studio of Vladimír Skrepl and Jiří Kovanda. She currently lives and works in New York.

The program of the Jeleni Gallery is possible through kind support of Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, Prague City Council, State Fund of Culture of the Czech Republic, City District Prague 7
